I just wanted to talk to you guys about staying positive. It seems to me that alot of people are becoming depressed because they feel like they’re not happy, they’re not living the kind of lives that they want to, they hate their jobs, they have dreams of being someone or doing things that may seem way too difficult or impossible to ever achieve! Of course i’m mainly focusing on the music aspect of it but you can apply this to anything. You feel like you have done any and everything thing that you could possibly do to get out there, or you may be confused about what to do, where to go or who to talk to, should you go to school, and if you did go to school would it really guarantee you a major placement in the music industry or would it just be a waist of money and time! Also I know that most people are struggling, living paycheck to paycheck, no one has the time or the money to just hop in the whip and travel the country putting out their music and doing shows! The list goes on and on!
But actually think back....
What exactly is it that you have tried, what exactly is it that you haven’t tried?! Truth be told I don’t have all the answers, I’m still trying to make it myself and I’m still learning! But alot of times because of doubt and unbelief we put our dreams on the backburner! Our dreams become our fallback to our jobs instead of the other way around! Circumstances of life get in the way, work bills, our family and kids! We become afraid to try because we are afraid to fail and lose everything! But if you give up then you have failed already! And I’m not telling you to put your family and responsibilities to the side but I am telling you to pick back up on your dreams and GRIND!! If music is something that you really love then do what makes you happy!! Whether you only touch 50 people, or 50 million people, if music is in your heart to do then DO IT!! But if you want to be successful in this thing then you first have to see yourself where it is that you wanna be! Your MIND is way more powerful that you realize!!! Don’t waste your time trying to analyze and understand it, just believe and tap into that power, first get the vision of where you wanna be and what you want, then act accordingly! And you may say, “What do I do?” The answer is “EVERYTHING!!” Any and Everything that you can possibly do, there are alot of things that you can do! Business cards, posters, flyers, parties, car washes, hot dog sales, raffles, things that you wouldn’t even think about! Give out free copies of your material! Do Shows, even if they don’t pay you, still do shows, exposure should be your best friend right now!! There are people that I know that feel like they are too good to be doing free shows, now whether or not thats true, if you’re still trying to make it then you are still never too good for an opportunity!! Be optimistic!! Show that you are dedicated and that you are Hungry for this! Put your absolute ALL into every attempt!! But the most powerful tool that you have right now besides Your MIND, is the internet! You have the whole world right there on your desk or in your lap! Youtube, Facebook, Reverbnation, Myspace, Soundclick, Email!!! All kinds of opportunities for exposure! hit up any and everyone! And don’t just put it out there, but PUT IT OUT THERE and PUT IT OUT THERE and PUT IT OUT THERE and PUT IT OUT THERE and PUT IT OUT THERE and PUT IT OUT THERE!!!! Demand attention, let people know you exist!!! Even build relationships with people! They would be way more willing to support you if they feel like they know you!!! Man............
Simply I’m just saying GRIND, believe!!! Exercise your faith, KEEP on speaking POSITIVE, thinking POSITIVE, staying POSITIVE, staying around POSITIVE, Success minded people, until POSITIVITY and Success becomes a part of your subconscious!!! And things are going to begin to happen for you all in due time, but only once you begin to do your part! Nothing is going to fall into your lap and no one is going to hand you anything for nothing! This life was not designed to be easy, saint or sinner, no one is exempt from life’s circumstances, trials and tribulations! But with anything in this life, if you want something, whether its a cheeseburger or a million dollar record deal, you have to go out there and get it!!!
